Intro
Since it was founded twenty-one years ago, Virgin Atlantic Airways has become Britain's second largest airline serving the world's major cities.
The Brief
Zolv were asked to help integrate Virgin Holidays product inventory into a web site that would allow customers booking Virgin Atlantic flights to research and book hotels matching their travel requirements as a continuation of their flight booking process.
Zolv Delivered
Working closely with both clients and using an extension of the existing framework used for the Virgin Holidays web site, Zolv built a site that makes Virgin Holidays hotels available to Virgin Atlantic customers through a simple, five-step booking process.
- Simple and effective summary based on existing product data for each hotel
- Visual integration with Virgin Atlantic web site
- XML gateway to booking system
- Database storage of booking details
- Designed to be extensible for addition of further ancillaries
- XHTML/CSS templates used to allow future re-skins of the product
Google Maps Integration
Google Maps integration
To enhance the standard information available on hotel detail pages Zolv implemented a custom solution using the Google Map API. This provided the following benefits;
- Instant indication of hotel location (over 1000 unique locations, worldwide)
- Gives the customer an immediate feel for the surrounding location
- Gives the customer the ability to pan and zoom around the desired destination
