Intro

In 2007 Zolv were approached by Comtec, a leading software provider to the UK leisure travel sector, with the proposition of designing a brand new travel website that would demonstrate dramatic improvements to the online searching, comparing and booking of holidays, and challenge the limitations of existing travel websites.

The concept behind Travel.co.uk was a site that would allow the user to find, compare and book their holiday all from the one site - something that had not previously been possible on any other travel website.

The Brief

The brief was to design, build and deliver a site that would push the boundaries of the online travel industry, through technical innovation and functionality lead design.

The website's main aim was to be a useful tool for users, and one that would make the process of finding a holiday simpler, easier and quicker.

Above all, the site had to be easy to use whilst finding new and interesting ways to present the user with a wide range of different information. A variety of interfaces would be used to do this (e.g calendars, maps, graphs, comparison charts).

Zolv also had to conceive of a unique identity for Travel.co.uk, and one which would help to establish the brand as a lead contender in the UK online travel industry.

Zolv Delivered

Starting from scratch gave Zolv the freedom to explore new ideas and approach problems encountered by existing travel websites and their users from entirely new angles.

The resulting site was designed to offer maximum flexibility, both in terms of content management and in terms of user functionality.
