Challenge

The deployment of an end-to-end booking portal for airport websites is a key offering of ADT, with the aim being to deliver additional revenue to airport partners, whilst providing travellers and visitors to the airport’s website with a seamless and secure environment in which to book their travel.

As all design and content changes were delivered through a third partner, Airport Direct Travel had little control over the sites it provided to its partners, making the process of adding new partner sites to its portal, or simple design or content changes, a lengthy one. Graham Yarrow, Product Manager at ADT, said, "We found ourselves in a situation where even a simple colour change on the site was proving to be extremely expensive. It had to be briefed in to an external design team and was time-consuming and costly. We urgently needed more control."

The websites provided over the existing portal were also extremely limited in their ability to up-sell, with partner airports unable to offer additional services on the site, such as hotel or car hire, meaning that both ADT and its partner airports were missing out on valuable revenue opportunities.

Yarrow commented, "We needed a solution that would allow us to configure and brand each site individually but, as we are not technical people, it absolutely had to be simple and easy to manage. Vitally, it also needed to allow us to up-sell to customers who had come to the site to simply buy a flight but who were likely to need accommodation or car hire."

The fast moving nature of travel, regular rebrands by airports and the need for seasonal promotions and up-to-date marketing campaigns meant that ADT required a new CMS solution which would offer improved management control across all aspects and components of the travel booking platform, including structure, layout, content and design.

Crucially, because of the simplicity of its controls, the Zolv Web Travel Platform has empowered the ADT team to take charge of the look and feel of the websites it provides. Colour, content and layout changes can now be completed in house in a matter of hours rather than days. This means the websites provided by ADT provide a seamless browsing environment for the customer with up-to-date branding and corporate colours visible at all times. The platform’s ability to integrate third party offerings and information has vastly improved ADT’s ability to provide revenue boosting up-sell opportunities. Now, those searching for flight only will be offered the chance to add accommodation, car hire and even travel insurance to their booking via a simple tick box system.

The Zolv Web Travel Platform promotes real time sales and marketing and the ADT team is now able to create rich content, add images or new promotions, dedicated landing pages and can even schedule campaigns ahead of time. For the first time, ADT can also add and manage promotional codes and discount vouchers on the site. Said Yarrow, "The Zolv platform has given us an unprecedented amount of control. The thought of bringing this in-house could have been frightening as we manage huge amounts of data, but the Zolv platform is very straightforward."

The new system has also created a more seamless way of capturing customer data through the booking journey, which is then shared with airport partners to ensure that every opportunity is made to influence the sale of other airport related products. The Zolv platform is integrated with cloud-based CRM Salesforce, a vital tool for sales and customer relationship management. The ADT team can view all the relevant data from partner sites and, most importantly, can provide this data to airport partners in as much detail as required for their own marketing activity. ADT now has a fully future proof, flexible and scaleable system capable of configuring new sites in very short timeframes.
